10 Awesome Surround Sound DVDs

Here are 10 awesome surround sound DVDs to show off your home theater system to friends and family with.

These DVD movies I’ve listed here each has a great soundtrack and some awesome effects that you can see, hear...and feel!

Try to find the following movies in DVD versions that have a DTS soundtrack and Dolby Digital because then you can get the full impact of the sound recording.

1) Master and Commander: Cool movie and you will hear every creak and groan of the old wood ship. The battles are amazing too!

2) Finding Nemo: Animation is incredible on High Def displays and this movie is visually dazzling with deep bass effects too.

3) Hero: See the “Blue Room” and “Arrows” sequences in this stunning Chinese film. House Of Flying Daggers is also just as impressive.

4) Flight of the Phoenix: This is a remake of the original movie from 1965 about survival after an airplane crash in the Gobi desert. The plane flies into a desert sandstorm and the flight and crash is spectacular.

5) The Bourne Identity: Great thriller with awesome surround sound effects. The Italian Job is really good too with a great soundtrack.

6) Lord of the Rings Extended DVD: This series has amazing images and all of them have an excellent soundtrack. Get them in DTS-ES.

7) U-571 DVD: Awesome submarine thriller with sequences that will shake your walls! Other war type movies to see are Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down which won an Academy Award for sound design.

8) Chicago DVD: It’s a musical so I understand if you’re not into this but the sound was very well done.

9) Minority Report DVD: Great soundtrack and the unusual bleached out look and feel of this movie make it worth mentioning.

10) X2 X-Men United DVD: Great soundtrack and visually striking like The Matrix Reloaded.
